Alpha/Alphaess;; »Essentially, the leaders. All packmembers must listen to and take directions from them. The rules are made and enforced by either or both. If you need advice or someone to talk to, don't hesitate to talk to either. Alphas and Alphaesses only change if the title is handed down, the previous Alpha or Alphaess dies and a new one is appointed in his or her place, or if a rogue wolf challenges and wins in a fight. Heir/Heiress;; »There is only one of each; not multiple, even if the Alphaess whelped a larger litter. Of course, they will most likely take to their status very quickly, so don't surprised if they are smug and attempt to order around other pups and even older packmembers. As your current Alpha does not take kindly to disrespect from pups, humoring them is not necessary. For an heir/heiress to take the title of their gender-respective leadership, he or she must be at least two years old or must be voted in by a pack majority.
Advisor;; »Just as the name says, the advisor is the one of the wolves whose opinion has staggering sway over the decisions made by the pack. Often a long-time friend or a wise elder, the title of “advisor” can ONLY be handed down if the current advisor leaves or is killed. Emissary;; »An extremely important role and one that is not easily gained. The emissary is essentially Haden Valley's ambassador to other packs. This title is given to a wolf that the leaders feel has shown not only dedication, but extreme loyalty and a resolution to keep HV's secrets, even if the result is death, for messages sent between allied leaders must be delivered only to the respective Alpha or Alphaess.
-------------------------------------------------
Beta Male/Beta Female;; »The second in command. They must take orders from the Alpha/Alphaess, but hold authority over the rest of the pack members. If the Alpha/Alphaess is absent, the Betas have authority in their steads. If the Alpha/Alphaess dies, the Betas receive the leadership positions. Betas often help the leaders with important decisions, and have the ability to escort rogue lupines/canines through the territory. Beta pups;; »They are rank-specific only because of their parents. It is very, very rare that a Beta pup succeeds his or her parent as Beta, as the majority of Betas have mutual and deep-rooted trust with the Alphas.
------------------------------------------------
Guards (soldiers);; »Strong and cunning, these wolves are given the rank based on their ability to defend and protect their pack. They are courageous and must be willing to sacrifice themselves if the need and time arises. Slots: Unlimited
Lead Guard (50 post minimum);; »Only one wolf may hold this title at any given time. Their battle prowess exceeds that of any other soldier, and they will be expected to lead others into battle alongside their alphas. This title is not simply given away; one must prove themselves to be up to the task. A lead warrior may, with the approval of the Alpha or Alphaess, train an apprentice. Note: This apprentice does not always reach “lead warrior” status upon completion of training. Lead warriors may ask to have their titles handed down to their apprentice, but the final decision is left up to the leaders. Slots: 1
Hunters;; »While everyone in the pack is expected to join in pack-wide hunts, there are an elite few that excel above others. They are deft in tracking and harbor acute senses, and may be exceptionally swift. Slots: Unlimited
Lead Hunter (50 post minimum);; »Only one wolf may hold this title at any given time. Exceptional at locating and isolating prey, the lead hunter has command over all other hunters and is expected to lead them if a chase ensues. This title is often given to a wolf who has shown the leaders that he is fierce and dedicated to providing HV with the sustenance they need. A lead hunter may, with the approval of the Alpha or Alphaess, train an apprentice. Note: The apprentice may act in the lead hunter's stead for one hunt, and if he proves himself, then the title may be handed down. If the Alpha or Alphaess feels that the hunt, although successful, was not properly executed, the title may be given to another, or withheld until the apprentice proves to be worthy. Slots: 1
Scouts;; »Known for the stealth, scouts are in charge of patrolling the border and immediately alarming the rest of the pack to any intruders or suspiciousness. Their toned bodies will be able to travel for miles without breaking down while retaining their trademark swiftness. Slots: Unlimited.
Lead scouts (50 post minimum);; »Only one wolf may hold this title at any given time. Excelling at staying covert, this wolf is often chosen by the leaders to carry out important tasks, or sent as an agent to spy on enemies. Subordinate scouts may deliver information to the lead, who would then relay it to the leaders. Slots: 1
Lead Medic (50 post minimum);; »Educated in the art of healing and herbs, this wolf must instantly be able to distinguish between plants and find ones that suit their purpose without second guessing themselves. Their knowledge of natural remedies often saves lives- and any slip might do more harm than good. They are encouraged to train an apprentice; it may be a blooming pup or a subordinate medic that they feel is excelling. Slots: 1
Medics;; »May have specialities, or are just plain good at helping others. They must not shirk their duties; it is a medic's job to attempt to fix or heal a wounded pack member. Slots: 2
------------------------------------------
Subordinates;; »Wolves that have either a) had their rank revoked, or b) have recently been initiated into HV and have not yet decided on a rank possibilities.
------------------------------------------
Alpha pups (other than the heir/heiress);; »The sons and daughters of the leaders. In HV, they should not be given any special treatment or they're liable to grow up smug, saucy, and stubborn.
Beta pups;; »See above.
Pack pups;; »Pups sired by any member of the pack other than leaders or betas. These may also be pups that have been adopted into HV.
-------------------------------------------
Omegas;; »While every pack has its own weakling, pack members are not allowed maltreat him or her, and to do so in front of the higher-authority wolves will have serious consequences. Omegas have the ability to take a different rank- but they often don't want to. By tradition, however, they must eat last after hunts.
Banished;; »The lowest of the low. These wolves were once part of the HV family, but have committed such crimes that the leaders felt that they no longer deserved to call the packlands 'home'. The are not allowed within the borders, and guards and scouts are allowed to run them off if sighted within the territory.
